Friday, May 21st was TEACH Charter High School’s second annual
commencement ceremony for the Class of 2010! We have watched these
students grow over the years and are very proud of their accomplishments
thus far.

We
currently have plans to start selling KNIT SHIRTS directly from FSA High
School for the 2010-2011 school year.
It is
possible that a style and logo change may be necessary to accomplish
this task – especially for our new incoming 9th grade students.

On Thursday evening, May 6, the entire TEACH staff was treated to delicious food and wonderful entertainment during the TEACH Staff Appreciation Dinner. While having dinner, we enjoyed music from the very talented Webb Bridge Middle School Jazz Band, and dancing from our very own TEACH Dance Team and student volunteer dancers. (Some of the staff actually showed off their dance moves as well!)

TEACH’s 2nd annual College and Career Extravaganza was on Friday, April
2. Students had the opportunity to learn about various careers from our
esteemed guest speakers and even how to network with professionals.
Sixteen careers were represented, from radiologic technology to law
enforcement. Students also had the option to dress for success with a
“dress up” day and they did impress our speakers!

One of the greatest “can’t miss” events of the year
is just around the corner -- the annual TEACH student dance, sponsored
by the Student Leadership Organization. Plans are being finalized for
this year’s Masquerade in Paris, Friday evening, May 14th from 7:00 –
10:30 p.m. This year’s event is sure to be the most fabulous yet.

On Sunday, March 22, 2010, the TEACH Model UN Team received the Outstanding School Award in the MUN-E Debate Competition sponsored and organized by Emory University.
Alex Levine, 11th grade, received the Best Delegate Award in General Assembly and Jackson Morgan,9th Grade, received Outstanding Delegate Award in General Assembly.
Congratulations to all team members, Alex Levine, Jackson Morgan, Nurullo Shamsudinov, Reid Kersey and to the team coach, Mrs. Morgan!

On Saturday, March 13, our TEACH Tech Fair Team participated in the State Tech Fair in Macon, GA .I would like to share with you the great results!
TEACH received the highest number of 1st place awards, with a total of 4.
In addition, we received three 2nd place awards and two 3rd place awards, which gave us the highest total number of awards at the high school level.
With these results, for the second year in a row, TEACH Tech Fair Team is the best performing team among all GA High Schools!

| The boys basketball team had their first annual awards ceremony March 13, 2010. Ms. Facyson and the team would like to thank everyone who came out to show their support. Awards were given to the following players: Jahlier Banks and Evan Garrett received Defensive Player of the Year Awards; Kitwan McCoy received the teams Sportsmanship Award; and Isaiah Green received the highest team award Most Valuable Player! Congratulations to all the players and thanks for a wonderful season! See you all next year! | |

The Community Service Club and Student Leadership Organization joined forces to raise funds to help the victims of the earthquake that devastated Haiti last month. Each Wednesday in February, students were able to pay $5.00 to participate in themed dress down days: Tacky Day, Twin Day, Pajama Day, and Decades Day. We are so proud to announce that we raised $1,418, thanks to our wonderful student body, faculty, and staff who donated to this worthy cause.

 | On Saturday, February 27th, the TEACH Science Olympiad Team competed in the Regional Tournament at Georgia Perimeter College in Clarkston, GA. As you can see below, our TEACH students received two 2nd Place awards, and one 4th Place award in this challenging competition. Congratulations and go Stallions! | |

Our annual International Night was last Friday and was a huge success! The evening began with a flag processional, led by our students, which was serenaded by the Olympic theme song. All of the countries in attendance were introduced: Israel, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, Palestine, Uzbekistan, Scotland, England, Mali, Japan, Greece, Georgia, and India.

On Saturday, February 6th, the TEACH "Engineers’ Army" Robotics Team won the Connect Award in FTC North-West Georgia Regional Qualifier Game which was held at East Cobb Middle School.This award is given to the team that most connected with their local community and the engineering community. A true FIRST team is more than a sum of its parts, and recognizes that their schools and communities play an essential part to their success. |

The Community Service Club and TSLO are co-sponsoring a month long “Help Haiti Campaign” to raise money for earthquake relief. Every Wednesday, throughout the month of February, TEACH students will have the opportunity to participate in fund-raising activities. Wednesdays have been designated as special “dress up” days where students pay $5 per Wednesday to come to school in special dress. The schedule is as follows:

 | The TEACH Tech Fair team (TECHMEN) participated in the Fulton County Tech Fair on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Once again, TECHMEN dominated the competition and received 20 placements (one-third of the possible 60 placements at high school level). Our students received 30 medals in 20 projects! Congratulations everyone! | |

We are very proud to announce that TEACH Charter High School is a winner in the 2009 Single Statewide Accountability System Awards from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement!
TEACH received a GOLD Award for making great gains in student achievement and a SILVER Award for outstanding achievement!

Last Saturday, TEACH Robotics team, The RoboStallions, participated in the FTC North Georgia Regional Qualifier.
RoboStallions received the Inspire Award – Highest Award in the FTC Competition! They are now getting ready for the State Championship!

FSA High School is currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. Students must submit a timely application to be considered for enrollment. For the 2010-2011 school year, we will be accepting 9-12 grade students.

The Community Service Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the students who donated to our warm clothing drive! Two car loads of sweaters, coats, gloves, hats, & socks were taken to North Fulton Community Charities from this drive!

The TEACH Community once again demonstrated their compassion and caring for the North Georgia community this week by making an outstanding effort in the Fall Food Drive. Students and staff donated over 1100 food items to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

U.S. history classes had the opportunity to visit with U.S. Army veteran, Major Raymond E. Schumacher, Retired, on Wednesday, November 11th in commemoration of Veteran’s Day. Mr. Schumacher shared with students his experiences from his time in Germany in the 1960s during the Cuban Missile Crisis and his two tours of duty in Vietnam in 1967 and 1969.
