On Wednesday, September 23, juniors had the opportunity to attend a college tour at UGA. About 40 students attended and had a great time! The first portion of the tour remained on the school bus where we were guided by two current UGA students. They pointed out various buildings while discussing UGA history, student activities and so forth. At the historic UGA arch, we began the walking portion of the tour.
While at the arch, TEACH students learned about the superstition that if you walk under the arch, you either will not graduate on time or will not graduate at all. Needless to say, students avoided the arch and walked around. Students were also able to ring the victory bell, which is heard throughout campus, and walk amongst other college students. Once the tour concluded, they continued the day as temporary college students and ate lunch in one of the many dining halls. Students were able to walk in the shoes of a college student for a day, which will in the end help them decide what college fits their needs the most.
